To pop the question in style, a blinged-out platinum engagement ring could well be the way to make a declaration of love.
According to Millie Martini Bratten, editor-in-chief of Brides magazine, brides-to-be are evermore dropping hints on their loved ones as to their wedding band of choice, as they often look for rings to contain large precious gems.
She told the Associated Press: "Size matters. People love a big sparkly ring, especially coming from the person they love most in the world."
Her comments come after reports that the popularity of platinum engagement and wedding rings has risen in recent months.
Theresa DiMasi, editor in chief of Brides.com, added that brides have been ditching yellow gold in favor of platinum wedding rings as they are considered to be more 'compatible' with their wardrobe as they will to want to show off the jewelry "for many, many, many years".
However, if the future bride and groom aren't thrilled with the prospect of trawling through jewelry shops for hours on end to find that perfect platinum piece then fear not as Lewis Jewelers is offering couples the ability to 'build' a ring to their own criteria from the comfort of their home.
