8/28/2007

Students in South Africa are set to be able to go on a specialist course preparing them to enter the platinum jewelry industry.

With an intake of 18 students, the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) Platinum Incubator at the Orbit Further Education Training College in Rustenburg will receive guidance on the various element of the manufacture of platinum jewelry items, reports diamonds.net.

A three-year course, students will also be taught business skills on areas including manufacturing services, marketing and project management.

Gordon Freer, center manager for the Seda platinum incubator, told the publication: "The aim is to develop entrepreneurial ability among the students, so that they can eventually develop their own businesses."

Mr Freer added that the center aims to become a one-stop shop to provide manufacturing, design and packaging facilities for platinum jewelry producers.

In related news, a new initiative was launched for platinum bridal jewelry producers by Platinum Guild International USA, encouraging them to make the most attractive displays possible for those wishing to buy a platinum wedding or engagement ring.
