A stunning and certainly unique piece of platinum finery has recently been sold for millions of dollars.
The news comes as British artist Damien Hirst has sold a skull made from platinum and encrusted with more than 8,500 diamonds for some £50 million - and is now thought to be the most expensive piece of contemporary art in the world.
And although the investment group who made the purchase from London's White Cube Gallery remains unnamed, such an exquisite piece is sure to turn the heads of all those who cast their eye upon it.
Entitled For the Love of God, the platinum piece was crafted from the skull of a 35-year-old 18th century European man and has been on display in London since June 3rd.
Meanwhile, Hatton Garden jeweler Bentley & Skinner molded a life-size cast of the skull using 32 platinum plates which were then hand-lasered to create thousands of holes into which to place the diamonds.
Other unique items produced from platinum to have recently been showcased include a Gundam Fix model with a market value of about £125,000.
