Bonhams prepares for Knightsbridge jewelry auction
11/9/2007

International auction house Bonhams is to host a major jewelry sale in London next week.

A huge range of 459 lots are to go under the hammer next Wednesday, with viewings for the rings, necklaces, earrings and other pieces starting on Sunday at Bonhams Knightsbridge auction rooms.

Lots range in price from a few hundreds to nearly £5,000, with a variety of modern and antique (19th century and early 20th century) jewelry up for sale.

With the price of platinum so high at the moment, auctions offer a good value way to get hold of classic designs without breaking the bank.

For those with more to splash out, however, Sotheby's in Geneva is holding its "Magnificent Jewels" auction also on November 14.

Chief amongst the lots on sale is a 84.37 carat, brilliant-cut, D-grade diamond, which is estimated to sell for somewhere between $12 million and $16 million.

Bonhams, in turn, has a star lot for sale in the near future.

On December 4 it will be selling the oldest, known surviving Rolls-Royce - a 1904 model from the year the famed luxury carmaker was founded, which is expected to fetch up to £1 million.
