Antiquarius shimmers with platinum treasures
11/29/2007

Antiquarius 2007 starts today in Connecticut and will feature a week-long extravaganza of events including the 50th Greenwich Antiques Show.

Greenwich Historical Society's director of development, Melinda Sherman: "For the celebration of our 50th Antiques Show, we are planning a particularly beautiful and diverse show with a number of new and exciting exhibitors.

"Our theme is 'celebrating 50 years of collecting' and visitors will find everything from exquisite estate jewelry to Biedermeier furniture to French antique wine-making accoutrements and Ming Dynasty ceramics. The range is tremendous."

The show will display a sublime array of antique jewels, including a stunning collection from Maxine Antiques of Oakland, California.

Among the pieces from Maxine will be an extraordinary platinum lady's wristwatch from the 1920s that is set with sparkling diamonds.

Other beautiful platinum and Art Deco pieces will be on display from the Oakland store, expertly selected by Judith Maxine Schweizer who was trained and worked in London and has built up a strong reputation in America over the years.
