Florida-based jewellery designer Mary Schimpff Webb sees a solo exhibition of her work open this weekend - with the environment its central theme.
Webb is the winner of four DeBeer Diamond International awards, and her "Going Green" show at Arts on Douglas, New Smyrna Beach, will showcase some of her stunning new work.
Renowned for her modernist designs, her unique style and for cutting her own stones, Webb told Daytona Beach News Journal: "I was inspired by stories about the environment and, especially, endangered plants and wildlife. I worked with the rangers, who were very helpful, and I learned a lot."
She added: "I love Florida's natural environment and wanted to boost awareness of the environmental issues we are faced with today."
Webb designs and constructs jewellery in a variety of mediums, from platinum and coloured gold through to silver and enamel.
"This is the eighth year in a row that we have opened a show of all new work by Mary Schimpff Webb," said gallery director Meghan Martin.
The exhibition runs from February 2 to 23.
'Environmental' jewellery exhibition opens in Smyrna Beach - 01 February 2008
