A lavish antique platinum ring garnered the highest price at Sotheby's Important Jewels sale on Wednesday.
The 21.54 carat cushion-cut sapphire and diamond piece was bought for £108,500, reports the International Diamond Exchange.
Its feature sapphire was listed as being of Burmese origin and not heat treated, while it was noted that the diamonds were 2.5 carat calf's heat cut.
Other notable items on sale included a 10.24 carat yellow VS1 diamond ring mounted on a platinum band.
The ring, which dates from the 1930s, sold for £78,500- hugely outselling its estimated price of £18,500
A further three items gained more than £50,000- a 6.51 emerald-cut diamond ring which sold for £66,500, a pear-shaped diamond ring which was bought for £57,500 and a diamond band ring set with 15 emerald cut gems which received a bid of £51,500.
In total the auction made £3,627,913.
