One of the rings being designed for this year's Super Bowl champions, the Giants, will be worth approximately £12,500, it has emerged.
The platinum and diamond commemorative 'Ring of Destiny' will be set with a 12 carat sapphire as well as smaller gems, reports the New York Post.
Fred Cuellar, president of Diamond Cutters International and the ring's designer, told the publication: "We want to top any other ring ever made for a championship team."
If the ring is selected from the pool of entries it will be the first all platinum Super Bowl ring ever made.
Each ring depicts three Lombardi trophies - one for each of the team's Super Bowl wins and is adorned with diamond footballs.
Meanwhile, football fans had the opportunity to bid on a Super Bowl ring from the 1996 Green Bay Packers championship team.
The ring, which is set with 115 diamonds, was available on Ebay with a 'buy it now' price of £24,999.99, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
