PLATINUM JEWELLERY FOR EVERYONE- 07 October 2009

The stabilisation of platinum prices has brought the ultimate in bridal jewellery closer to earth again.  Whilst many consumers aspire to own platinum, most feel that it is beyond their financial reach.

Few currently realise that platinum wedding rings can start from as little as £285, offering retailers a new opportunity for increasing the value of their transactions.

For those customers looking for a white metal band, being shown an affordable platinum ring will reveal a range of jewellery that they had previously thought unattainable.  Giving consumers the confidence that a ring made from pure, rare platinum is well within their means presents a new opportunity to up-sell as retailers can remind them of platinum's values, and reassure them that jewellery made from the most enduring precious metal will be in the family for generations.

Affordable platinum jewellery offers increased value for retailers at a time where the price of gold is rising, Palmun who exhibited at IJL this year displayed a plain polished d-shaped 5 mm men's wedding band with an RRP of £550, and a 3mm women's version at only £285.
Anria, another IJL exhibitor showcased light platinum chains with starting RRP of £150.

Domino displayed a selection of Court and D Shape wedding rings at the trade show, with female rings starting at an RRP of just under £300 and male bands just below £600.

The diamond-set platinum range from Genie Jewels featured dress rings with retail prices starting from £450, full eternity rings from £625 and pendants and ear studs for under £600.

CW Sellors launched the Stargazer collection with its beautiful designs featuring platinum combined with Whitby jet. The Shooting Stars earrings, RRP £1265, and cocktail ring, RRP £1230 show that even high end platinum jewellery is affordable.

Platinum is regaining its position as the most popular white jewellery metal, not only because of the growing awareness that it is affordable, but because it is known to be the best.
